THIS MONTH'S LONDON MUST SEES: BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE BEAUMONT HOTEL

If October is the month of mists and mellow fruitfulness, it’s also the time when London bursts back into life after the torpor of summer. With so many exhibitions, shows, events and concerts happening, it makes sense to book a longer stay, so take advantage of the special ‘Four for Three’ offer at The Beaumont.

The concierge team at The Beaumont know London inside out, and they are here to help you look beyond the obvious tourist clichés. Here are four of their top recommendations for this month:

Musical Chairs with Patti LuPone

Stephen Sondheim’s classic musical, Company, enjoys a limited run in a new gender-bending version at the Gielgud Theatre with Rosalie Craig in the lead role of Bobbie, Patti LuPone playing the part of Joanne and Mel Giedroyc as Sarah. Marianne Elliott directs. Catch it while you can: the production ends on 22 December.

Classical Coffee Concerts

The Wigmore Hall is famous for its solo classical and chamber-music recitals, which attract world-class performers from around the globe. Its traditional Sunday morning coffee concerts, each week at 11.30am, offer an hour of brilliant playing followed by a free cup of fresh coffee or a glass of sherry.

Piano Forte

The Italian architect Renzo Piano receives his first major retrospective exhibition this month at the Royal Academy. Though best known today for buildings such as the London Shard and the Whitney Museum in New York, he first won international fame back in 1971 for the ‘inside out’ design of the Pompidou Centre in Paris, which also launched the career of Richard Rogers.
