OUT OF MAYFAIR REVIEW: THE BUTTERY AT THE LIME TREE HOTEL, BELGRAVIAs
An old friend and I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Buttery at The Lime Tree Hotel. Situated in Belgravia’s prettiest street, this quintessential English hotel provides solace from the hustle and bustle of London’s fashionable hotspot. Sleek and refreshing, this boutique hotel offers a welcoming atmosphere with a family run cosiness. My friend, Rachel, commented on the happy, friendly welcome that we received. This relaxed restaurant and bar offers healthy, indulgent and seasonal food, a perfect spot for long afternoons in the sun.
Our waiter led us through to the outside where we discovered an impeccable English country garden with rustic wooden tables, deckchairs and planters bursting with flowers and plants. The scents of lavender and rosemary linger the air amidst gentle chatter and smiles in this peaceful secret garden hideaway.
We were content to quench our thirst with The Buttery Spritz - citrus gin, St Germain and Ca’ di Alte Prosecco; and The Garden Spritz - Italicus, St Germain, lime juice and Ca’ di Alte Prosecco. The cocktails were complemented by starters of Deep fried squid with sweet chilli sauce and a ramekin of fresh Green olives.
Our appetites were further satisfied by two decadent breakfasts, The Buttery Breakfast, The Buttery’s take on a full English breakfast; and The Allotment Breakfast, a vegetarian version. Both dishes, available for breakfast, brunch and lunch, were of sizeable portions, presented beautifully.
Conveniently located on Ebury Street, The Lime Tree is located within a few moments from Victoria Station, nestled in amongst the flower arched boutiques and cafes of picturesque Belgravia. How wonderful for us to have visited The Buttery and to have made a joyous memory at this Grade II listed former Georgian home, with its original fireplaces and cornicing. The hotel, which now welcomes non residents, beckons us to return again.
